3 Offseason Trade Destinations for Hurricanes' Jesperi Kotkaniemi
Carolina Hurricanes forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi was the subject of trade rumors leading up to the 2026 NHL trade deadline. While he ended up staying put, there is an expectation that the Hurricanes will listen to offers for him during the summer.
Due to this, let's look at three teams that could look to acquire Kotkaniemi this offseason.
Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks were connected to Kotkaniemi this season, and it would not be too surprising if they pursued him during the summer. They need to improve their depth down the middle, and Kotkaniemi could fit well in their top nine if acquired. Furthermore, with Kotkaniemi being 25 years old and signed until the end of 2029-30, he would be a long-term fit on a rebuilding Canucks club.
St. Louis Blues
The Blues are another team that could make sense for a player like Kotkaniemi. It is no secret that more changes should be coming to the Blues' roster this offseason, as they need to get younger. Kotkaniemi could be an interesting player for them to take a chance on.
New York Rangers
The Rangers are another team that could make sense as a landing spot for Kotkaniemi. The Rangers need help at center right now, and that will only be more of the case if they end up dealing Vincent Trocheck during the summer.
