Devastating Injury News For Ottawa Senators & Thomas Chabot
The Ottawa Senators had finally climbed into a playoff spot on the back of their four-game winning streak. But it's come at a price. Top-four defenseman Thomas Chabot has suffered a broken arm and will be out for four to eight weeks.

Chabot had surgery today to repair his forearm, and that effectively ends his season. The Senators would not only have to somehow hold onto their Wild Card berth without him, but then would have to advance a couple of rounds into the playoffs to have any chance of giving the veteran blueliner a chance at returning.
The injury came when Chabot was cross-checked by the New York Rangers' JT Miller during Ottawa's 2-1 win on Monday.

There was no call on the play.
It's a brutal blow for the Senators, who have clawed their way back from sitting with the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference on New Year's Day, to grabbing hold of the second Wild Card spot. The Sens have gone 20-9-4 since the calendar turned to 2026, and are 8-2-0 in their last 10 games to complete the run into playoff positioning.
But the final 11 games of the season just got a lot more difficult for them without Chabot.
Thomas Chabot will miss the rest of the regular season & more with a broken arm
The 10-year veteran has been relied upon for 22:34 of average ice time this season. He has 31 points in 55 games, with 108 blocked shots, and a plus/minus rating of +6. He will be seriously missed.
The Senators made Chabot the No. 15 overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, and he's spent the entirety of his career in Ottawa. The 29-year-old has two more seasons to run on his eight-year deal with an $8M AAV.
On the bright side of the medical report for the Sens, however, another one of their star defensemen, Jake Sanderson, who has been out since Mar. 7th, is back on the ice skating and will join the team on its upcoming road trip.
