Gabriel Landeskog Back on the Shelf For Avalanche
Gabriel Landeskog just can't catch a break. Unfortunately, he did catch a puck... in a very uncomfortable spot in Friday night's win for the Colorado Avalanche over the Dallas Stars.
Landeskog got hit in the place where the sun don’t shine…at least it’s not the knee #GoAvsGo

#Avs captain Gabe Landeskog did take that Cale Makar shot in ... a bad place. A key piece of protective equipment had a dent in it after said shot.

Yes, a Cale Makar shot drilled Landeskog below the belt, and the result is bad enough that it'll keep him out week-to-week.

He made a triumphant return this year after missing three straight regular seasons with a brutal knee injury, and registered 21 points in 39 games to start the year. But Landeskog has had a tough go of it in the second half of this campaign, missing over a month in January/February with an upper-body injury after crashing into the post at high speed.
Now he'll hit the shelf once again, and this one is, as we mentioned, a "lower-body" injury—just south of the equator, shall we say.
Overall, he has nine goals and 29 points in 47 games. His absence will likely be felt in Colorado. Even after today's win in the Nazem Kadri Return, they are just 7-6-2 when Landeskog doesn't play. WITH him in the lineup this season, the Avalanche are an unreal 36-4-7.
The captain will join Artturi Lehkonen on the shelf; he is also considered week-to-week with an upper-body injury.
Logan O'Connor is also still out, on LTIR. Head coach David Bednar said today, however, that “hopefully he’s gonna get back in the lineup here soon.”
