If he clears again, he becomes a UFA and, as long as he signs before 3pm (ET) Friday, would be eligible for the playoffs.
Joseph is wrapping up a four-year, $11.8 million contract ($2.95M AAV). He's ready to bail on the remainder of that salary for this season in order to get a chance to hook up with a playoff-bound team.
But he'll have to work quickly, and he only has until 3pm ET tomorrow (same time as the trade deadline) to sign on with a new team and be eligible for the postseason. He can bring speed, high-energy and some physicality to a team's bottom-six. He also brings two Stanley Cup rings from his days with the Tampa Bay Lightning (2020, 2021).
In 459 regular-season games over eight NHL seaosns, he's recorded 160 points on 61 goals and 99 assists, along with 755 hits and a plus/minus rating of +8. In the playoffs, in 13 total games, he has three points while dishing out 46 hits.
He's had double-digits in goals four times in his career, but he's had fairly limited usage in St. Louis, and this season has just two goals and 11 points in 39 games.
Joseph, 29, was drafted in the fourth round, 120th overall, in 2015 by Tampa Bay.
