Rangers' Vincent Trocheck Trade Down to 2 Teams

The New York Rangers fire sale continues, and GM Chris Drury is now accepting final trade offers for two-way center Vincent Trocheck.

Trocheck was held out of Thursday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs for 'roster management' purposes, and word is, the Detroit Red Wings and Carolina Hurricanes are making their final offers Friday morning, and Drury and company will mull them over and likely accept one of the two. At this point, it's a 90% certainty that Trocheck doesn't play another game for the Rangers this season.

The Hurricanes have a boat load of cap space, and can easily fit in Trocheck's $5.6 million AAV this year, and for the next three seasons. The veteran center spent three seasons with the 'Canes back from 2019-22, and would give them a game-breaking forward they've been searching for all season long.

These two teams have pulled off a blockbuster within the last year, so it's not really a surprise to see them speaking again. Drury would prefer to move Trocheck to the Western Conference, and could hold out finalizing a deal until closer to the 3pm trade deadline, with hopes the Los Angeles Kings or Minnesota Wild up their offers, as both clubs have been expressing interest.

Keep an eye on the Rangers, as they have Alexis Lafreniere on the market as well, and could be open to moving just about anyone on their blueline not named Adam Fox.

The Red Wings will be making a huge splash on Friday, so if it's not Trocheck for Steve Yzerman, look for him to circle back on Elias Pettersson of the Vancouver Canucks, or Nazem Kadri of the Calgary Flames. Yzerman also has ties to Steven Stamkos, and could convince the future hall-of-famer to waive his no-movement clause and join the Red Wings playoff push.
