3 Offseason Trade Destinations for Rangers' Mika Zibanejad
The New York Rangers traded away several players during the 2025-26 season to kick off their retool. Artemi Panarin, Carson Soucy, Sam Carrick, and Brennan Othmann were all dealt by the Rangers this campaign.
With the Rangers retooling, it would not be shocking if more of their players get traded this summer. Zibanejad could be a trade candidate to watch, as it is no secret that the Rangers want to get younger. If the 32-year-old center ends up being willing to waive his no-movement clause to get a fresh start, these three teams could make sense as landing spots.
Detroit Red Wings
If Zibanejad becomes available this offseason, the Red Wings would be a team to watch. There is no question that they need to upgrade their second-line center spot, and bringing in a star forward like Zibanejad would do just that. His 33 goals and 70 points in 74 games this season effectively demonstrates that.
Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes were on the hunt for center help at the deadline, as they were one of the teams linked to fellow Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck. With this, it is fair to wonder if they could consider making a push for Zibanejad this summer. He would give them another impactful forward to work with in their top six.
Minnesota Wild
The Wild also could make a lot of sense as a suitor for Zibanejad. After trading Marco Rossi to the Vancouver Canucks in the deal that brought superstar defenseman Quinn Hughes to Minnesota, it is clear that they should be looking to add a top-six center this summer. Zibanejad could be an amazing fit on a Wild team that is in win-now mode.
