3 Offseason Trade Fits for Flames' Zach Whitecloud

Zach Whitecloud, Calgary Flames

The Calgary Flames will be a team to watch during the 2026 NHL offseason. With the Flames rebuilding, it is likely that we will see more of their veteran players moved during the summer. One specific trade candidate to watch from Calgary will be defenseman Zach Whitecloud.

Due to this, let's look at three teams that could look to acquire Whitecloud during the offseason.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators need to be looking to boost the right side of their blueline this offseason, and it would not be surprising if they targeted Whitecloud this summer because of it. He would give them a much-needed upgrade on their right side if acquired. His contract could also be appealing to the Sens, as he has a $2.75 million cap hit until the end of the 2027-28 season.

Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens looked to add a right-shot defenseman at the deadline, so it would not be surprising if they tried again during the summer. When looking at potential right-shot defenseman trade candidates around the NHL, Whitecloud stands out as a potential fit for the Habs. He could slot nicely on their roster and would also be a clear option for their penalty kill.

Dallas Stars

The Stars could look to bring in another right-shot defenseman during the offseason. A player like Whitecloud could make sense for them, as he would provide their right side with some much-needed stability. He would fit nicely on the Stars' second pairing but also could work on their third pairing as well if acquired.
