3 Potential Trade Destinations for Blues' Jordan Binnington

The St. Louis Blues started their re-tool this season, and heading into this offseason, expect to see major changes continue for their roster.

Whether it's Doug Armstrong in charge, or Alex Steen, the Blues are changing up the core of their roster, and we've already seen Colton Parayko almost dealt, Justin Faulk and Brayden Schenn moved, and in the offseason, expect to see goaltender Jordan Binnington moved.

Binnington, 32, has one year left on his contract at $6 million AAV. He owns a 10-team no-trade clause, so there's a bit of control on his destination, but the fact is the Blues have Joel Hofer, who they are thrilled about, and they'll be handing over the keys to the starting job to Hofer for next season.

Binnington's had an up-and-down season, which included a great showing at the Olympics, but at the end of the day, the Blues window to win isn't open at all, so management would be wise to cash in on some younger assets.

As far as potential destinations go, keep an eye on the Edmonton Oilers. If Connor Ingram or Tristan Jarry can't get the job done this spring, the Oilers will come calling to see if they can land Binnington this summer.

There's also the Philadelphia Flyers, who are going to be in the market for either a starting netminder, or someone they can tandem. The Flyers have lots of cap room, and they have a solid farm system that will appeal to Blues' management.

The New Jersey Devils are a team to watch this offseason, as they're going through major changes, and are expected to make significant changes to their roster. While they have two veteran goaltenders, they'll be in talks to change things up in their crease, and getting Binnington back there could give the team a totally different look. The Devils need to shake things up and adding the fiery goaltender would certainly do so.

The Blues are trading Binnington this summer, the writing is on the wall, and with Hofer in place, now is the time.
