NHL Rumors: 3 Red Wings Offseason Top-Six Winger Targets

Jake DeBrusk, Vancouver Canucks

The Detroit Red Wings' awful end to the season should make them aggressive during the offseason. After extending their playoff drought to 10 years, they must look to make upgrades to their roster. One specific need they have is another top-six winger.

Because of this, let's take a look at three top-six wingers the Red Wings should consider targeting this offseason.

Jake DeBrusk, Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks are expected to listen to offers on DeBrusk this offseason as they continue their rebuild. It would be understandable if the Red Wings pursued him, as he would be a solid addition to their second line if acquired. In 80 games this season, the 29-year-old forward has 23 goals and 42 points. This is after he scored a career-high 28 goals and had 48 points in 82 games during this past season.

Matthew Knies, Toronto Maple Leafs

If the Maple Leafs listen to offers on Knies again this summer, the Red Wings should make a serious push for the 23-year-old winger. He would be a major addition to the Red Wings' top six if acquired, as he is a hard-nosed forward who contributes well offensively. In 79 games this season for the Leafs, he had 23 goals and 66 points.

Alex Tuch, Buffalo Sabres

If Tuch hits the free-agent market this summer, the Red Wings would be very wise to target him. If they signed him, he would be a nice upgrade over veteran forward Patrick Kane in their top six. He would also give them a much-needed top-six power forward, which would be good for a Red Wings team that is looking to take that next step.
