Vancouver Canucks Exec Linked to Minnesota Wild

After this disastrous season for the Vancouver Canucks, there will be plenty of changes. Both on the ice and off it. In particular, the futures of general manager Patrik Allvin and head coach Adam Foote are in doubt

There is some intrigue around Allvin's situation. He is thought of highly around the organization, but so is assistant GM Ryan Johnson. And coincidentally, it's been reported that the Canucks turned down a request from the Nashville Predators to speak with Johnson about their own GM opening. That could only mean one thing for Allvin if the Canucks envision AGM Johnson for bigger things.

Patrick Johnson of the Vancouver Province, however, feels there are a few scenarios that could emerge here, including Allvin being moved out of GM to be given a new title with the Canucks such as vice-president and assigned as "some kind of super-scout," he writes.

Or, he could just be flat-out fired. And if that's the case, Patrick Johnson has heard a noteworthy rumor about Allvin's next destination.

One league source thinks if he gets outright fired he will wind up moving to Minnesota to work as GM Bill Guerin’s top scout, superseding Judd Brackett. That would be quite the move as the Wild have been excellent in finding prospects during Brackett’s six years there.

Thomas Drance reported this week in The Athletic that the Canucks still hold Allvin in high regard as a talent evaluator, so it would make sense that he's viewed elsewhere around the league the same way.

Of course, Guerin and Allvin got to know each other quite well earlier this season, while they cooked up the blockbuster deal that sent Quinn Hughes to the Wild in exchange for top defense prospect Zeev Buiumcenter Marco Rossi, prospect Liam Öhgren, and a 2026 first-round draft pick. Now, from the sounds of this rumor, it's possible that the two could find themselves working for the same cause.

One way or the other, there'll be plenty of intrigue this offseason coming for the Canucks.
