Oilers & Blues Emerging as Potential Trade Partners
After a short playoff run, the Edmonton Oilers should be in for a busy offseason. The Oilers' roster is simply not strong enough right now, and they have multiple needs to address during the summer because of it.
One specific area that the Oilers must improve this offseason is their goaltending. Tristan Jarry has not lived up to expectations since being acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins, while Connor Ingram is a better fit as a backup. Thus, it would be shocking if the Oilers don't try to land an upgrade between the pipes this offseason.
The Oilers are undoubtedly standing out as a prime potential landing spot for St. Louis Blues goalie Jordan Binnington this offseason.
It is no secret that the Blues are more than open to moving on from Binnington as they enter a retool. This is especially so with Binnington entering the final season of his deal in 2026-27. With this, the Oilers certainly could kick tires on the 32-year-old this summer.
Binnington is coming off a down year with the Blues, posting a 13-20-7 record, a 3.33 goals-against average, and an .873 save percentage. While this is the case, his past success and ability to step up in major moments could make him a very good addition for an Oilers club looking to win during the Connor McDavid era.
