Report: Maple Leafs Open To Trade Offers On Everyone Except Auston Matthews

According to TSN's Chris Johnston, the Toronto Maple Leafs roster could look very different next season.

Johnston reports that the Maple Leafs are talking to other teams regarding trades and have made it clear to opposing teams, they're open to just about anything, just don't ask about captain Auston Matthews.

“One of the things I’ve been told by other teams with the Leafs, is that the message that’s come out from their front office is that they’re willing to discuss any players on their roster, except Auston Matthews,” stated Johnston.

“They’re open to hearing what you have to say on any player but Matthews. We’ve spent a lot of time talking about the Matthews’ situation. I don’t think there’s anything new to update there. I find it kind of interesting, the word around the league is they’re willing to listen on a lot of players, that in the past, they haven’t been,” continued Johnston. “Keep in mind, guys like Morgan Rielly, William Nylander have no-movement clauses…John Chayka is considering basically anything outside of his captain.”

While Nylander seems like a stretch, given Matthews isn't open to staying in Toronto through a rebuild, however, the likes of Morgan Rielly, Brandon Carlo, Anthony Stolarz, Nick Robertson, Matias Maccelli, and Joseph Woll have all been linked to recent trade talks.

Keep an eye on the Leafs, with the number one pick, they have lots of irons in the fire and could be pulling off some blockbuster deals over the next six weeks.
