San Jose Sharks In Advanced Trade Talks
The San Jose Sharks are open for business.
After some wonderful luck at Tuesday's NHL Draft Lottery, the Sharks skyrocketed up the draft board and found themselves in the two hole. A very familiar spot for them, and with all of their young talent already on their roster, this is going to be very interesting to watch how general manager Mike Grier handles the draft pick.
Mike Grier says he was "shocked" at the draft lottery results. Says he remains open to dealing the No. 2 pick. Obviously, the price tag would be big.

There's already been some speculation over moving down to the three hole and landing an NHL player in the move, or down even further on the board to focus in on a top-pairing defenseman. Grier is desperate to add a couple of top-four d-men this summer, along with a rugged blueliner for his bottom pair, so any move that's pulled off with the second overall pick, will involve a defenseman heading to San Jose.
Some defencemen who are certainly going to find themselves on the offseason trade boards include Morgan Rielly in Toronto, Dougie Hamilton in New Jersey, Darnell Nurse in Edmonton, even Roman Josi in Nashville. Adam Fox in New York has been linked to deals recently, and same goes for Colton Parayko in St. Louis.
The Sharks are going to move the pick, that's where the market is leaning right now, because, Ivar Stenberg is set to go number two overall, and frankly, Grier would love to have him, but the Sharks are desperate to upgrade their blueline.
