4 Free-Agent Destinations for Patrick Kane

Social Media Feature Preview
Patrick Kane isn't expected to re-sign with the Detroit Red Wings. With everything going on with Dylan Larkin's trade demands, Kane's set to hit the free-agent market on July 1, and there's going to be a wealth of interest.

Kane, 37, continues to prove doubters wrong and has produced during the late stages of his career. Kane appeared in 67 games last season, scoring 16 goals, and adding 41 assists for 57 points. The shifty winger averaged 17:41 of ice-time per game and played a huge role for the Red Wings' top six.

Heading into free agency, Kane's case is helped in a major way considering there isn't much for talent available in this year's class, especially when it comes to high-end skill, that can help run your power play, and play heavy top-six minutes.

Kane's expected to hear from a number of teams and is very likely only joining a team he feels can make some noise in the Stanley Cup Playoffs next season. So far, the Red Wings have been severely bumped down the list, and Kane's potential destinations include joining Artemi Panarin on the Los Angeles Kings, playing alongside Auston Matthews on the Toronto Maple Leafs, joining his hometown Buffalo Sabres, or making his way south to join the Florida Panthers.

Kane's likely going to settle for a two-year deal, as the future hall-of-famer is in the midst of the back nine of his career. The numbers are still there and it's obvious in the right situation, Kane can still be an effective player, even though after multiple surgeries in the late stages of his career, many wrote him off.

Now we wait to see where Kane signs, the Sabres seem to be the favourite, and the Red Wings seem to be an afterthought.
