4 Trade Destinations Linked For Oilers' Darnell Nurse

The Edmonton Oilers are looking to move Darnell Nurse this summer, and will be asking him to submit a list of teams he'd approve a trade to in the coming days.

While seeing a deal go down at the NHL Draft in Buffalo in a couple of weeks might not be feasible, don't be surprised to see Nurse moved before July 1, so the Oilers can use the added cap space to add some significant players on his roster.

As far as trade destinations go, OilersNation has linked these four teams as potentials for a Nurse deal:

San Jose Sharks

The Sharks won't sniff moving their second-overall pick to Edmonton, but they have plenty of prospects in their system that are NHL ready and can contribute for the Oilers next season. The Sharks only have two defencemen signed to NHL contracts for next season, and they're nowhere near the salary floor, so adding Nurse's $9.2 million AAV could appeal to GM Mike Grier.

Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings have bigger fish to fry at the moment now that Dylan Larkin has requested a trade but don't be surprised to see Steve Yzerman circle in on Nurse. The two teams have discussed a deal in the past and could revisit talks leading into free agency. Sebastian Cossa would be at the top of the Oilers wish list.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Brad Treliving almost traded Morgan Rielly and Nic Roy for Nurse ahead of March's deadline but decided against it and moved Roy to Colorado for a first-round pick. Now, with John Chayka manning the ship, we'll have to see if he's interested in Nurse. At this point, it seems less likely than when Treliving was in charge. Nurse is a big risk at the price considering he doesn't run a power play and that's what the Maple Leafs need the most.

Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers are in the d-man market and have reportedly been looking at Nurse in the past. They have cap space, they have Owen Tippett, who the Oilers are desperate for, and Nurse could be packaged with a couple of prospects to get the deal done. Seeing Connor McDavid and Tippett on the same line would be fun hockey to witness given their speed. The Flyers are also interested in signing John Carlson, so we'll have to wait and see how this shakes out in a couple of weeks.
