The Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche have swung a deal on Day 2 of the NHL Entry Draft, with a one-for-one player trade. The Avalanche pick up former first-round pick Fabian Lysell from Boston, in exchange for the player with one of the best names in hockey, Ivan Ivan.

Lysell was a first-round pick of the Bruins in the 2021 Entry Draft (21st overall). The 5'11" speedy winger out of Sweden has put up some decent numbers at the AHL level over the past few years, but has only gotten into 12 NHL games with Boston, back in the 2023-24 season. The 23-year-old now heads to the Avalanche organization. The change of scenery should benefit Lysell, who has the potential to be a creative offensive threat if he develops his game further.

Ivan was signed by the Avs as an undrafted free agent in 2024. The 23-year-old got into nine games with Colorado this past season, posting just one assist, with an average of 7:27 of ice time. The 6'0" forward played 40 games the previous year with the Avs, posting five goals and eight points. The gritty, speedy forward plays both center and wing.
