Multiple reports have surfaced stating Trouba's expected to hit the open market, and will be one of the most coveted free-agents on the market. The bruising defenceman enters free agency at 32, and after making $8 million AAV on his last deal.

Trouba appeared in 81 games for the Ducks last season, posting 35 points, which was his highest total since the 2022 season as a member of the New York Rangers. Last season Trouba averaged 22:49 of ice-time, including playing a major role on Anaheim's penalty kill, while landing 143 hits, and blocking 149 shots.

As far as potential destinations go, don't be surprised to see the San Jose Sharks make a contract offer. Even after a recent trade with the Buffalo Sabres, the Sharks still need to add multiple defencemen, and have the cap space to easily fit in Trouba financially.

Another team who will have interest is the Philadelphia Flyers. They prefer John Carlson, but also want to add some more nasty to their team, so Trouba certainly fits the bill. The Montreal Canadiens are expected to be interested, and we'll see how much they want to spend to upgrade an already solid blueline.

Lastly, don't be shocked to see the Chicago Blackhawks as a major player here, as they want to get tougher to play against, and GM Kyle Davidson is looking to add to his blueline this summer.
