Columbus Blue Jackets Sign Cole Sillinger To 3-Year Deal

The Columbus Blue Jackets continue to take care of some offseason business, as the team announced they've signed forward Cole Sillinger to a three-year contract.

The restricted free-agent forward inks a three year deal, and will now earn $4.625 million average annual value moving forward. Sillinger just came off a two-year deal, and cashes in on an extension, getting a pay raise from his previous $2.25 million AAV. Last season was his best year, posting 33 points in 81 games. With the new landscape of the NHL and a rising salary cap, 33 points now costs $4.6 million AAV?

The Blue Jackets selected Sillinger with their first-round pick, 12th overall at the 2021 NHL Draft. So far throughout his career as a Blue Jacket, Sillinger has recorded 140 points in 367 career games. The Blue Jackets have been busy of late, getting Sillinger's deal done, and signing goaltender Jet Greaves to a three-year contract as well.

However, Columbus' biggest order of business is still yet to come. Adam Fantilli is a restricted free agent and without a contract for next season. There's been a lot of talks about the Philadelphia Flyers hovering around with an offer sheet, now that they've missed out on Leo Carlsson. 

Columbus has over $14 million in cap space remaining, so don't be surprised to see Fantilli sign at some point this summer, as the Blue Jackets have no interest letting their number-one center leave to an offer sheet.
