Report: New York Islanders Offered Patrik Laine A Chance To Revive His Career
The New York Islanders are serious about improving their power play.
The team, which is led by general manager Matthieu Darche, is still on the hunt to improve its forward group. One player they took a shot at is a star who has waned in recent years, as Patrik Laine suffered through injuries and a short stint in the NHL/NHLPA Players Assistance Program while still a Columbus Blue Jackets player.
Laine, originally a 2nd overall pick in 2015, is a sniper and has played 537 games in the NHL with the Winnipeg Jets, Columbus Blue Jackets, and recently the Montreal Canadiens.
Despite his recent troubles, the New York Islanders offered Patrik Laine's camp at PTO in order to revive his career in the NHL and become a difference-maker on the team's power play, which was ranked 30th in the league last season.

Patrik Laine: A Fit?
Laine, who has struggled to play a full season of hockey for the majority of his NHL career, was given another shot at the start of free agency by the Islanders.
As someone who's been affected by mental health struggles, injuries, and a lack of consistency throughout his entire career, it might be best for him to grab the brass ring and prove he's worth every penny.
Laine has 537 games of NHL hockey under his belt, has scored 422 points (224 goals, 198 assists), and has 25 games of playoff experience to his name and 17 points (8 goals, 9 assists).
