The Buffalo Sabres have gotten another piece of business done this summer, locking up their final restricted free agent, Peyton Krebs, to a rich, new deal with a big raise. The agreement heads off a scheduled arbitration hearing.

It's a four-year deal with a $4.5 million AAV for the 25-year-old versatile forward, running through the 2029-30 season. He was earning $1.45 million on his last contract.

Krebs had a career-best season, playing up and down the Buffalo lineup, from the fourth line earlier in the season to the top line with Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch by the end of the year

“I try to just bring that mindset that I’m gonna grind for pucks, I’m gonna be hard on the forecheck and get pucks to my teammates, try to make them better,” Krebs said. “I don’t change that whether I’m fourth line or first line.”

In 82 games, he set personal best marks for goals with 12, assists with 27, and points (39). He also delivered a career-high 201 hits and finished with a plus-minus rating of +13. He also added six points in 13 playoff games.

Krebs was excited to re-up with Buffalo, calling the place home, and his teammates like family.

“Obviously, the group of guys here are unbelievable and a lot of fun to be around. I think that’s the biggest thing: Is it a fun environment to come to the rink? And that it is, for sure. I got to know my neighbors really well, and all the people out in Clarence, where I live. It’s definitely something I’m looking forward to, and I want to bring a Stanley Cup here.”

The Sabres now have $5 million in cap space remaining, with UFA Logan Stanley still unsigned. He is unlikely to return.
