San Jose Sharks Sign RFA Collin Graf

From being undrafted to landing a $12.75 million dollar contract ($4.25M AAV), restricted free agent Collin Graf has signed on for three more years with the San Jose Sharks.

The 23-year-old broke out for 21 goals and 46 points in 81 games this season for the Sharks, with a plus/minus rating of +6, making himself a key player in the team's future, and earning his life-changing deal.

The youngster was already living a dream, teaming up with Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith on the Sharks’ top line in addition to other duties up and down the lineup. He was also a regular on the first penalty killing unit. 

“Collin was a big part of our team’s improvement this past season, being an effective penalty killer for us and his versatility in the lineup was extremely valuable,” Sharks GM Mike Grier said in a statement. “His hard-working attitude and work ethic is a big reason why his game took another stride last year, and he continues to be an important person in our young group of players. We’re happy we are able to keep him a Shark for the next several seasons.”

Grier and the Graf camp were said to be close to a deal earlier this week, after a month's worth of negotiating. 

In 121 NHL games, the former Quinnipiac forward now has 26 goals and 59 points.
