Stunning Development Surrounding Jonathan Toews

Jonathan Toews officially announced his retirement from the NHL back in June after 16 seasons. But is that definite? Now that his old running mate from those three Stanley Cups with the Chicago Blackhawks has officially returned to the Windy City, maybe Toews is re-thinking things? 

Kane himself said he's tried to talk Toews into joining him on the Hawks.

"I said, 'Hey, maybe you come back for a year?'," Kane told Pardon My Take. "He was like, 'I'm thinking about it.'" 

Is this for real? We must note that Toews told The Athletic after Kane's signing with Chicago that he was "jealous."

"We were texting, and as happy as I am for him, I told him I’m straight-up jealous that he’s gonna get to play for the Hawks again," Toews told Mark Lazerus.

Toews is 38 now, and returned last year to play for his hometown Winnipeg Jets after a two-year absence due to health troubles. He had 11 goals and 29 points in 82 games, but admitted the season was "difficult" for him. 

At the very least, Toews could at least come back on a one-day contract to retire as a Blackhawk.
