Calder Cup Winner Alex Nylander Earns PTO Invite With NHL Team

The Nylander Brothers' dream of playing on the same NHL squad could be coming to an end. At least for now.

After a couple of seasons in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization, Alex Nylander will apparently be trying to earn a spot with the Calgary Flames on a professional tryout (PTO) at next month's training camp.

Sounds like Alex Nylander will be coming to camp with the #Flames, likely on a PTO.

PuckPedia is reporting the younger Nylander's pending PTO. 

He had a terrific year with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL, posting 24 goals and 53 points in 65 games, while also adding a sensational penalty shot marker in the Calder Cup Finals.

And after winning the championship, Nylander has been living it up this summer, celebrating with the Cup.

Alex Nylander, 28, teamed up with big brother William, 30, in the Maple Leafs lineup for a total of five games in the 2024-25 season. 

In all, he's played 126 games in the NHL, recording 25 goals and 49 points. His highlight was a 23-game run with the Columbus Blue Jackets at the end of the 2023-24 season, when he notched 11 goals. 

He'll be battling for another crack at an NHL job with the Flames at training camp next month.
