Free Agent Calle Jarnkrok Signs Deal For Upcoming Season
Per Swedish outlet Expressen, the deal with Brynas IF of the SHL is now confirmed.
The 34-year-old spent parts of four seasons with Brynas earlier in his career before crossing to North America in 2013.
Rumor That Refused To Die
This has been a long time coming, even if it kept getting shot down along the way.
Swedish outlets first reported back in December that Jarnkrok had a verbal agreement in place with Brynas for the 2026-27 season, a report his agent, Filip Andreason, publicly denied at the time.
"In light of Aftonbladet's article, Newport Sports can deny that Calle Järnkrok has a verbal agreement with Brynäs for next season," Andreason said. "The information is incorrect and unfounded, and no negotiations are taking place with Brynäs or any other club for the upcoming season."

The story resurfaced again in April, with reports suggesting Jarnkrok was still hoping to continue his NHL career rather than head home.
He never publicly confirmed or denied either round of speculation himself, and Toronto general manager Brad Treliving had reportedly spent much of the past year trying to move him in a trade, without finding a taker.
Quiet End To A Solid NHL Run
Jarnkrok wraps up his NHL career, at least for now, on the back of a four-year, $8.4 million contract with the Maple Leafs that expired at the end of the 2025-26 season.
He was limited to just 19 games last year due to injury, posting one goal and seven points, along with one assist in 12 playoff appearances.

A second-round pick by the Detroit Red Wings back in 2010, the Gavle, Sweden native built a long career across stops with Nashville, Seattle, Calgary, and Toronto, collecting an estimated $23.27 million in career NHL earnings along the way.
