Detroit Red Wings Reject Minnesota Wild Trade Offer

The Minnesota Wild have spent the majority of the summer trying to acquire Dylan Larkin from the Detroit Red Wings.

The Red Wings captain went to management at the end of last season and made it clear he's not interested in sticking around Motown long term, and listed four teams he'd be willing to be traded to. The Wild were among Larkin's preferred suitors, and so far, Wild general manager Bill Guerin hasn't been able to convince first off Steve Yzerman, and now the rest of the Red Wings' management group, as they look for a new GM.

Larkin is signed through the 2031 season at $8.7 million AAV. Apparently, Larkin and Yzerman butted heads on a lot of things, including the team's inability or willingness to pull off trades in season, and leading up to the trade deadline. Larkin wanted Yzerman to go for it, and he's sat on his hands for the most part.

As far as trade offers go from the Wild, they traded a few of their major pieces for Quinn Hughes, who they're having trouble re-signing, but that's a story for another day. Guerin doesn't have much left in the tank when it comes to prospects, and has zero interest moving Brock Faber off his blueline. Guerin's been offering his 2027 first-rounder, Danila Yurov, and David Spacek.

Keep an eye on these two teams, as Larkin still prefers to be traded. The Wild seem like a longshot to get this deal done however, as they're attention should be solely focused on what's going on with Quinn Hughes.
