It's Official: Connor Hellebuyck Publicly Requests Trade From Winnipeg
Connor Hellebuyck has made his future with the Winnipeg Jets unmistakably clear.
With training camp approaching and trade speculation surrounding the veteran goaltender continuing throughout the summer, Hellebuyck publicly confirmed that he requested a trade from Winnipeg several months ago.
“Winnipeg has been my home for my entire NHL career, and I will always be grateful for my time there,” Hellebuyck said via the statement.

The three-time Vezina Trophy winner said he initially hoped the situation could be handled privately, but felt the need to address it publicly as the new season draws closer.
“Winnipeg has been my home for my entire NHL career, and I will always be grateful for my time there,” Hellebuyck said via the statement. “I have never forgotten June 23, 2012. That’s the day Winnipeg took a chance on a goalie playing in Odessa, TX. I gave everything I had from that moment to prove the Jets made the right decision.
"Several months ago, I privately requested a trade. I have tried to handle the situation quietly and respectfully while giving the organization time to explore its options. With training camp approaching, I felt it was important to publicly confirm my request.
"My position has not changed, and I believe moving on is the best path forward for me and my family. I appreciate everything Winnipeg Jets fans have meant to me throughout my career and hope a resolution can be reached soon."
Trade rumors began in June when the Jets admitted they were listening to offers on Hellebuyck
General manager Kevin Cheveldayoff confirmed in June that Winnipeg was listening to trade offers for Hellebuyck, although he declined to publicly confirm whether the goaltender had formally requested a move.
The 33 year-old netminder has spent his entire NHL career with Winnipeg and established himself as one of the league’s elite netminders, winning the Vezina Trophy as the league's top goalie in 2020 as well as 2024 and 2025.
Now, with his request finally public, the focus shifts to the Jets and whether they can find a trade that satisfies both the organization and its longtime star.
He still has five seasons left on his seven-year deal, with an $8.5 million AAV. He owns a full no-move clause.
