The Mammoth's 4th overall selection in the 2025 NHL Draft, he was upended awkwardly from behind by a falling Team USA player, and suffered an apparent leg injury.
Desnoyers, 19, was in significant pain and left the game immediately.
Canada coach Misha Donskov didn't have an update on Caleb Desnoyers (UTA), who left in the middle of the third period with what appeared to be a left leg/knee injury. "You never want to see something like that. I haven't gotten a medical update on him yet but hopefully he's OK."

"You never want to see something like that. I haven't gotten a medical update on him yet but hopefully he's OK," said Canadian coach Misha Donskov.
Carson Carels, who was Utah's first-round pick in the recent 2026 Draft (6th overall), also was trying to stay positive about his pending new teammate's injury.
"Kind of heart-wrenching because he’s a great guy & a great player for us … the character he has, he’s going to get through that & I think it’s nothing too, too serious & I think he’ll stay strong through that."
A 6'2" center, Desnoyers finished his third season with the Moncton Wildcats this past year with 78 points in 45 games, with a plus/minus rating of +36. He added another 25 points in 21 playoff games in the QMJHL. The year before, he led the Wildcats to the Q league title, with 84 points in 56 games and was named the league’s playoff MVP, with 30 points in 19 games.
Hopefully, this injury won't be a long-term one. He battled wrist injuries the previous year.
