The card itself moves into a special echelon of hockey cards that has set itself apart of from The Great One, Wayne Gretzky's own coveted cards.
Only one hockey card has ever gone for more. Gretzky’s O-Pee-Chee rookie in a PSA 10 sold for $3.75 million in a private deal in 2021, and everything else in the sport now sits behind a 20-year-old with two NHL seasons on his resume.

The company Goldin Co. is a "Global go-to-company" for high-end collectibles, announced the sale of the card on Saturday after its monthly auction.
The card was originally pulled out of a hobby box in the Chicago area, ironically.
