Stanley Cup Champion Dustin Byfuglien's Joke At A Fishing Tournament

Dustin Byfuglien, a one-time Stanley Cup champion, made a stunning admission this week. 

The now-retired tough-guy played for three teams (Atlanta Thrashers, Winnipeg Jets, and Chicago Blackhawks) during his NHL career and won a Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks during their dynastic run beginning in  2009-10. 

Byfuglien was never known for his scoring abilities, but came close to 20-goal seasons multiple times, and never put up more than 40+ points during an NHL season.

For someone like Byfuglien, who was known for being a tough customer, this was quite startling. He had a career total of 1,897 hits, 1,094 penalty minutes, and 525 points during his 14-year NHL career. 

"Big Buff" retired from the NHL after the 2018-19 NHL season, becoming a professional fisherman afterwards. 

With questions regarding his career surfacing during a tournament, Jets fans wait with anticipation for whether or not he'll suit up for the Alumni game in October. 

The Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens alumni will face off on Oct. 24th, 2026 in the Canada Life Centre.
