Winnipeg Jets Rejected Multiple Trade Offers

Winnipeg Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff was informed of Connor Hellebuyck's trade request months ago, and hasn't been able to find a deal he's open to accepting. The trade talks had been going on in the background of the organization, but now that Hellebuyck's gone public with his trade demands, the Jets GM will have to deal with the heat publicly.

Word is, Cheveldayoff isn't dead set on having to get back a number-one goaltender in return, as the team would be comfortable with giving Stuart Skinner the majority of the starts next season. Cheveldayoff continues to hold out for a top-line winger, or a second-line center, along with a first-round pick, a top prospect, and a goaltender of some sort. Four pieces are expected to head to Winnipeg to facilitate the trade, but so far, no offer has even been close.

Hellebuyck is signed for five more years at just over $8 million AAV, a very reasonable contract for a Vezina trophy winner caliber netminder. He owns a full no-movement clause until next July, but he's told the Jets to be open to chatting with anyone, cause he'll consider the trade case by case, as appose to only having a few teams worth accepting.

The Carolina Hurricanes, San Jose Sharks, Colorado Avalanche, and Pittsburgh Penguins have been linked recently, with the Buffalo Sabres a long shot at this point. The Sabres seemed to be very close to making a move at the NHL Draft in June, but the Jets wouldn't include the No.4 overall pick in the trade.

Don't expect these talks to go on much longer, and fully expect to see Hellebuyck moved by early September, as he'll want to be situated with his new team and city before training camp opens.
