Going to be long-time member of the NHL's All-Interview team, too
The deal will kick in for the 2027-28 season after he wraps up his entry-level contract this season, and it will pay the 21-year-old Moore a $4.25 million AAV. It will lead him right into unrestricted free agency.
An excellent bit of business done for Hawks GM Kyle Davidson, getting the young, up-and-coming two-way center locked in at a manageable cap hit. He's a versatile player with wheels who will fill many different roles across the lineup.
Last season, his first nearly-full year in the NHL, he recorded 19 points in 51 games, averaging 12:51 time on ice per night. He was called up to the Hawks after going point-per-game with the Rockford Ice Hogs in the AHL with six goals and nine points in nine games.
Moore was considered a steal at the 19th overall selection of the 2023 Draft for the Blackhawks (18 picks after they landed Connor Bedard), and he's fit in nicely with the young group, well liked in the room.
He's already remembered for his priceless "Mom, thanks for birthing me," postgame comment on his 21st birthday after scoring the shootout game-winner for Chicago against the Carolina Hurricanes on January 22nd.
