Blue Jackets In Advanced Trade Talks On Multiple Players

The 2026-27 NHL season is upon us, and when it comes to the early-season trade market, keep an eye on the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Yes, they should have bigger things to worry about considering Adam Fantilli doesn't have a contract and isn't in training camp, however, their front office has been busy discussing trades around Kirill Marchenko and Dmitri Voronkov.

We know Marchenko is available, as he's made it crystal clear he won't be signing a long-term extension to stay in Columbus, as he isn't interested raising his family there. Meanwhile, Voronkov's name is new, and a recent addition to our trade watch board.

The 26-year-old versatile forward is in the final season of his current contract, earning $4.1 million AAV, and is a pending restricted free agent next summer. Last season, Voronkov dressed in 63 games, scoring 17 goals and 32 points, while averaging 13:56 of ice-time, including time on the Blue Jackets' top power-play unit. He also landed 105 hits, so it's obvious he has some jam to his game, and while his first NHL season was down the middle, Voronkov spent the majority of the last two seasons on the wing. 

In his second year, 2024-25, the Russian forward posted a career high 47 points in 73 games, and many feel his ceiling is a point-per-game player.  As far as potential trade destinations, the Seattle Kraken are looking for top-six forwards, along with the Detroit Red Wings, and Calgary Flames.
