The contract is worth $975,000 at the NHL level, and $220,000 if/when he's in the American Hockey League.
Othmann, as the 16th overall pick by the NY Rangers in the 2021 NHL Draft, has been a huge bust as a first-rounder. Since his first appearance three years ago, he's only played a grand total of 44 games at the NHL level, recording two goals and five assists in less than 10 minutes of average ice time.
His performance in the minors has been much better, however, as the 6-foot forward has 92 points in 134 games.
It's likely that Othmann will start the 2026-27 season in the AHL, and try to work his way back up into the Flames lineup.
The 23-year-old's signing leaves only three RFAs around the NHL still without a deal—all of them much more impactful to their teams' 2026-27 hopes: Columbus Blue Jackets top-line center Adam Fantilli, Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Alexander Nikishin and Detroit Red Wings defenseman Simon Edvinsson. Only the latter, Edvinsson, is in camp with his team, as a new contract is expected soon now that the team has a GM in place.
