Flyers Linked To Dylan Larkin Trade With Red Wings

The Dylan Larkin sweepstakes continue as the 2026-27 NHL season kicks off, and if it was up to Larkin, he would have been traded months ago. While talks continue, a new team has become strongly linked - the Philadelphia Flyers.

According to Daily Faceoff's Anthony DiMarco, the Flyers tried to land Kirill Marchenko from the Columbus Blue Jackets, who has since been traded to Toronto for Matthew Knies, and while they didn't want to pony up, they've turned their attention to trying to squeeze Larkin out of Motown.
Speaking with team sources, it sounds like the Flyers’ ideal package for Marchenko was a deal that would’ve included “three assets” considering that elite defenseman Quinn Hughes went for four assets less than a year ago. While these players are not ones the Flyers are shopping or even have offered in proposed trades, a package involving forwards Alex Bump and Noah Cates along with a first-round draft pick is one the Flyers were willing to offer up, per sources. But with Knies ultimately being the player going the other way for Marchenko, it’s easy to see why the Flyers didn’t get a deal done.

Another player the Flyers have circled on is Detroit Red Wings center Dylan Larkin, who recently expanded his trade list to eight teams. According to team sources, the Flyers are still not on Larkin’s expanded list of teams he would accept a trade to; that being said, they are still keeping tabs.

Larkin starts the season in Detroit, after what many felt was very unpassionate training camp from the veteran center. Larkin's recently expanded his trade approval list, however, most of the teams he's interested in, are lacking cap space.

Larkin's set to earn $8.7 million AAV, and owns a full no-trade clause.
