VIDEO: Flyers' Daniel Vladar Injured During Preseason Game
Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Daniel Vladar left Tuesday's preseason game with an upper-body injury.
Against the Boston Bruins, Vladar mishandled a dump in into the Flyers' zone, and eventually tried to gather the puck, and meanwhile Bruins' pesky forward Tanner Jeannot made contact with Vladar's right arm. It didn't look good, and considering Vladar's health history, there's certainly a level of concern in Philly that's not exactly ideal heading into the season opener next week.
Vladar couldn't even pick up his stick as the play continued and the Bruins didn't care, as Michael Eyssimont scored shortly after. Vladar would be replaced by Aleksei Kolosov, however if he's unable to start the season, fantasy owners may want to pick up Joseph Woll, as he's certainly in store for the majority of starts, although he doesn't exactly have the most durable past from his days as a Toronto Maple Leaf.
As for Vladar, this was supposed to be a huge season for him, after a stellar year in 2025-26. In 52 games, the towering netminder posted a 29-14-7 record, along with a 2.42 goals against average and a .906 save percentage. The Flyers made the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season for the first time since 2020. Vladar also appeared in one game during the Olympics for Czechia.
Earlier this offseason, the Flyers showed a ton of trust in Vladar, extending the journeyman goaltender for five years at $5.5 million AAV. He's entering the final year of his current deal that sees him making $3.3 million AAV.
