Winnipeg Jets Baffled By Low-Ball Connor Hellebuyck Trade Offers

Connor Hellebuyck wants to be traded by the Winnipeg Jets, but that doesn't mean that general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff is going to cave in to low-ball trade offers.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the hockey insider confirmed on Monday that the Jets have been very disappointed with the types of trade offers that have been rolling in for their Vezina and gold medal-winning goaltender.

Hellebuyck doesn't want to play in Canada, and isn't open to being traded to either the Ottawa Senators, who reached out and showed initial interest. From all accounts, it appears Hellebuyck is open to joining the Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes, San Jose Sharks, Utah Mammoth, and Colorado Avalanche, all teams who have reached out in different capacities.

There's also trade protection on potential trade targets of the Jets that Cheveldayoff is having to deal with. For instance, Karel Vejmelka, Mackenzie Blackwood, and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen all have various trade protection on their contracts, and there's been rumblings that each goalie have the Jets on their no-fly list. 

For now, it appears the Hurricanes are the favorite, and expect to see one of their goalies moved, along with Alexander Nikishin as part of the package, as the restricted free-agent defenceman asked for a trade a few weeks back.
