The Dylan Larkin drama has reached a whole new level now in Detroit. But that's not the only sticky situation on Interim GM Shawn Horcoff's hands. Unsigned RFA Simon Edvinsson also would prefer to move on, even as the team continues to try to re-sign him. He has yet to play this season.

A new report from Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet has indicated that five teams are taking a 'long look' at the top-pairing young D-man. And he indicates that one of them has 'substantive' talks going on:

San Jose Sharks

"The talks with the Sharks are substantive, I believe," Friedman wrote, "with at least one serious offer between them — an offer that was not accepted by Detroit, as the story goes. (That’s not to say the Wings were unreasonable.)"

The Sharks have completely reconstructed their blueline this season with the additions of veterans Jacob Trouba and Darnell Nurse, along with Michael Kesselring. But adding Edvinsson as the new No. 1 D-man would be a huge step up.

St. Louis Blues

The Blues are continuing to make moves to bring in young talent, and the Red Wings' disgruntled defenseman would be a strong move to bolster the blueline. Wings assistant GM Kris Draper has scouted two Blues games in the last week or so, adding fuel to the fire of these two teams potentially coming together on a deal.

Seattle Kraken

Jeff Marek said on The Sheet this week that the Kraken are "looking for a D. They are looking, that's not a secret." Seattle is off to a surprisingly strong start this season, at 8-4-1. Landing someone like Edvinsson would put them in the conversation for ending their four-year playoff drought. Detroit has their eye on one of the Kraken's top young center prospects.

Nashville Predators

GM Chris MacFarland hasn't been shy about making moves to change up the Predators roster in his four months on the job. Adding a top young D-man is one of his next targets. As with Seattle, Nashville has been asked about their young prospects at center in return.

Boston Bruins

But Friedman writes that there's been "less chatter" about Boston being around Edvinsson lately.

Other teams noted on other insiders' lists who have some interest in the Wings' RFA include the Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes, per David Pagnotta.

Of note, there is a deadline in all this. Edvinsson would have to be signed by Dec. 1st in order to be eligible to play this NHL season. He's looking for a long-term deal thought to be in the $10M+ AAV range.
