Wotherspoon is being labeled week-to-week with an upper-body injury, and is out for the foreseeable future. Whatever his issue was in Saturday's game, he did play through it to the end of the contest, a 2-1 OT victory over the LA Kings.
The puck-moving defence-first blueliner has no points in six games thus far with the Golden Knights, with a plus/minus rating of minus-6. The 29-year-old recorded five shots on net, five hits and five blocked shots across six appearances.
He was acquired in June from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Kaedan Korczak. He had a breakthrough year with the Pens last season, posting career-highs across the board, with 27 assists and 30 points in 80 games, with 162 hits, 112 blocked shots, and a plus/minus rating of +17.
In 194 career games over five seasons, Wotherspoon has 46 points, 334 hits and 257 blocks, with a +12 rating.
Vegas recalled defenseman Ville Heinola from the AHL on Sunday, while Victor Olofsson was been placed on IR. He is also week-to-week from a Saturday injury.
With Wotherspoon sidelined, Heinola and Jeremy Lauzon should get expanded ice time.
