The Toronto Maple Leafs have revealed the timeline for Kirill Marchenko, who was injured in Monday night's loss to the Calgary Flames.

The dynamic Leafs forward will be out week-to-week after his leg folded awkwardly under him on a fall. Fortunately, it's nothing serious.

We also have an unofficial report from a group of Leafs fans who saw Marchenko at the Calgary airport on Tuesday. They say that he told them he'd be back in two weeks.

That would fit, more or less, with the timeline that Toronto has announced.

Marchenko has six goals and 14 points in 14 games after the blockbuster trade that brought him to the Buds on the eve of the season opener.

Additionally, head coach Jim Hiller said that Chris Tanev, who has been out for more than two weeks, is now day-to-day and could return for Saturday's game in Vancouver.

Meanwhile, John Tavares, Nick Blankenburg, and Marshall Rifai all remain out on a week-to-week basis.

Major update for Gavin McKenna at Leafs practice

The other major piece of news out of Leafs practice on Wednesday is that a significant lineup change is coming after the injury to Marchenko leaves them down two top-six skaters.

Top draft pick Gavin McKenna, who has been restricted to minimal duty by Hiller, often averaging in the range of 10-to-11 minutes of ice time per night while playing on the third line, will now join Auston Matthews and Jack Roslovic on the top line. The kid will finally get a chance to shine.
