NHL Trade Rumors: Jets Rejected Kings' Connor Hellebuyck Trade Offer

The Los Angeles Kings are out on the Connor Hellebucyk trade sweepstakes, but it wasn't for a lack of trying. According to multiple reports, the Kings made several offers to the Jets, but they couldn't meet their needs with their four piece-package.

Speculation is brewing that the Kings offered goaltending prospect Carter George, speedy winger Trevor Moore, backup Anton Forsberg and a 2027 first-round pick. The Kings left out their top-2 prospects, and Moore isn't enough up front to move the needle. It's obvious Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff wants a difference maker up front as his team has been rolling, and he wants to add some proven NHL talent to his lineup.

Hellebuyck's in one of the crazier situations in league history, as his suspension is going to be lifted on Friday, but the Jets are expected to tell him to stay home, and we'll pay you regardless. Hellebuyck's Jets' teammates aren't interested in having the Vezina trophy winning goaltender return if he's not committed to the franchise, and at this point, all Hellebuyck wants is out.

Elliotte Friedman: Re Connor Hellebuyck suspension/potential return: I think there's a...very legitimate chance if they don't have this done by Friday, that Winnipeg says we'll pay you, but you don't have to come - Saturday Headlines (10/17)

If the Kings offered Brandt Clarke, the deal would happen very quickly, but LA isn't going to mess around with the best young players. Quinton Byfield seems like someone the Jets would accept, but again, they can't get on the same page within trade talks.

For now, the Kings are out, and the Buffalo Sabres and Utah Mammoth are the top potential landing spots.
