Oilers Interested In Bruins Top Prospect Matthew Poitras
While the Boston Bruins may not be selling, the team has garnered interest in top prospect Matthew Poitras.
It had been reported by Frank Seravalli, that the Oilers had checked in on the team's latest promotion to the team, after demoting former fourth-line center Sean Kuraly to the 13th forward on the team.
Poitras had a short look in the NHL last season, playing three games and scoring one goal, spending the majority of the year honing his skills in the AHL with the Providence Bruins. In 69 games, as a P-Bruin, Poitras proved he was a capable forward, scoring 13 goals and 44 points in the second-best hockey league in the world.

His last stint in the AHL followed the 2024-25 season, which he split between Providence and Boston, where he scored 17 goals and 41 points in the NHL, but had a less-than-stellar showing in the NHL, scoring 1 goal and 11 points.
Despite fans clamoring for him to take his place in the big leagues, general manager Don Sweeney and the team held off on promoting him until this year.
The other young guys, Sweeney continued. Whether James or Freddie, and I talk about Matty Poitras, Fraser's still young, Khusnutdinov is still young — we're excited about that band of players. They're mixing with our even more established guys to the internal growth that they're going to be capable of and pushing
His successful push to a full-time job in the league has resulted in Poitras gaining legitimate interest in his talents from other teams across the league.
With news of the Edmonton Oilers being one team that has expressed interest in the two-way forward, it's difficult to tell whether or not the Bruins would trade Poitras before Pavel Zacha.
Zacha was one piece who was actively shopped in the last few weeks in an attempt to complete a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets for Kirill Marchenko, now a Toronto Maple Leaf.
Poitras has plenty of room to grow, as he'll be centering the Bruins' fourth line, per Daily FaceOff.
