I asked Quinn Hughes about his contract situation, and he said his two feet are “firmly planted” in Minnesota. And he said he wouldn’t be surprised if something happens “soon.” #mnwild.

I'm where I've always been. I'm excited right now. My two feet are planted in Minnesota and you know, something could happen soon, I'm not really too sure. I'm really enjoying playing here. I love playing with, you see Brodes, Spurge, and when Brock comes back, there's a lot of things that are set up nicely here for me to have success individually and as a team. We have a great team. First thing, is you want to get into the playoffs but I would think that we have a chance to win this year.
If you're interested in reading body language, here he is uttering that whopper of a statement:
Quinn Hughes, asked today about his contract situation w the #MnWild …. “Wouldn’t be surprised if something happens soon.” This is as forward-looking as I believe Hughes’ comments have been so far during this process. https://t.co/D7mHWED89i

While those two cherry-picked quotes sound pretty promising for the Wild, there was also the "I'm not really too sure" line, and then the meandering comments about other players on the team and getting into the playoffs. Fans and some media members weren't sure what to make of it.

@WildJoeRadio He would have signed if he was staying. Let’s be honest with ourselves. Him saying, “Something could happen soon. I’m not too sure” isn’t really saying anything other than he doesn’t want to talk about it.

Hughes says he has 'feet planted in Minnesota', as Wild set to visit his old stomping ground in Vancouver
Hughes has a big, emotional weekend coming up, as he gets set to tread into the uncertain waters of Vancouver's Rogers Arena Sunday night. Perhaps the former Canucks star was just setting the stage for the reception he'll be getting there by letting his old fans know ahead of time that he was happy with the trade to Minnesota.
It's anybody's guess at this point what Hughes really has planned. "Something could happen soon, I'm not really too sure," could mean just about anything. If he's not too sure, how could the rest of us be?
One thing we are all sure about, however, is that Hughes is off to a rip-roaring start to the season with the Wild, with 13 points in 11 games and a +6 rating, while logging 27:25 of ice time per night.
