Sharks' Macklin Celebrini Misses Game With Lower-Body Injury
There's some cause for concern in San Jose, after Sharks' captain Macklin Celebrini took warmup, and then was a late scratch against the Dallas Stars on Monday night. Celebrini didn't play due to a lower-body injury, and he'll be reevaluated on Tuesday.
The Sharks superstar is obviously their biggest piece of their lineup, and losing Celebrini for a long stretch would be very costly to their playoff chances. Celebrini's posted five assists through his first two games this season, and looks to be ready to contend for the Art Ross Trophy and Hart Trophy this season.
Celebrini was scratched against the Stars Monday, and this allowed Ty Dellandrea to dress, and Alex Wennberg was promoted up to the top line. Celebrini is coming off a 2025-26 season in which he recorded some amazing stats for a teenager, racking up 45 goals and 115 points in 82 games. He was also named to Team Canada for the 2026 Winter Olympics, scoring five goals and 10 points in six games in Milan.
The Dallas Stars would go on to win Monday's game 5-0 against the Sharks, and dominated thanks to quality efforts from Mikko Rantanen and Jason Robertson, who both scored their first goals of the season. Rantanen's was pure magic, as he showed off some slick hands on this play:

As for the Sharks, they are treading water at the moment, waiting on the severity of Celebrini's injury to be announced on Tuesday.
