Tomas Vokoun Trade Rumors

The Florida Panthers are sitting at 11th place in the Easter Conference with only 40 points in the 2010-2011 NHL season. With talented players like Stephen Weiss, David Booth, Bryan McCabe and their coveted goalie, Tomas Vokoun, the Panthers were expected to be in the playoff picture.

Vokoun, who is 34, is in the last year of a $6.3 million dollar contract. He has 16 wins, 15 losses and 1 OT this season. He is ranked ninth in save percentage .922 while facing the sixth most shots 1,000. It's been assumed by many that Vokoun would be traded before the February 28th trade deadline because there are several promising young goalies in the Panthers organization.

Tallon of the Panthers said, "No one has ever said that. He's not definitely gone. We talked to his agent and while they expressed an interest in staying, we've expressed an interest in keeping him if it makes sense.'' If the Panthers can go a winning streak, Vokoun might stay. But the more likely scenario is Vokoun getting dealt to a team that desperately needs good veteran goaltending - a team like the Washington Capitals.
