Marian Gaborik Trade Rumors

Trade rumors continue to surround the New York Rangers for the 2011 NHL season. The Rangers are 7th in the Eastern Conference with 62 points. With big names like Henrik Lundqvist and Marian Gaborik, the team was expected to easily make the playoffs.

Marian Gaborik has struggled with 16 goals and 18 assists in 42 games compared to his 86 points in 76 games last season. His goal scoring production has decreased. If you are like me and picked him first overall in your hockey pool, he has not lived up to expectations. Most of his production has come against NHL teams in the bottom of the standings such as the Oilers, Islanders and Maple Leafs. Against the top teams, Gaborik has not found ways to score.

Sather is considering offers for Gaborik from the Canadiens, Kings and other teams who are looking to add a top six player with an offensive flare. Gaborik's contract of $7.5 million per year for four more years if cleared, would give Sather room to sign restricted free agents including Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov, and Ryan Callahan. Look for Gaborik to be moved before the trade deadline.
