Atlanta Thrashers Moving to Winnipeg

Rumor has it the Atlanta Thrashers are moving to Winnipeg for the 2011-2012 NHL season. A Winnipeg group which plans to relocate the franchise to Winnipeg has finalized an agreement to purchase the Atlanta Thrashers. Sources confirmed Thursday night that preparations are being made for an announcement Tuesday confirming the sale and transfer of the Thrashers to True North Sports and Entertainment. Gary Bettman is expected to travel to Winnipeg to make the news official.

Winnipeg Jet fans are overjoyed. Their city has a tradition of having a good NHL team. The Jets drafted star players such as Teemu Selanne who scored 76 goals and 56 assists in his rookie NHL season with Winnipeg.
