2011 Steven Stamkos Trade Rumors

The latest trade rumors surround Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning for the 2011-2012 NHL season. Stamkos scored over 90 points in each of the last 2 seasons and he is only 21 years of age. Yzerman offered the star center around $7.5 million per year and the offer was rejected.

Restricted free agent Stamkos is not eligible for arbitration because he has not played NHL hockey for 5 years. The Lightning can let Stamkos walk through an offer sheet and get 3 or 4 first round picks in return. Or they can match any offer made to Stamkos.

If no deal is reached by July 1st 2011, expect the New York Islanders, Florida Panthers, Winnipeg Jets, and Toronto Maple Leafs to place an offer on Stamkos as they have plenty of cap space.
