2011 Zach Parise Trade Rumors

The latest trade rumors are that Zach Parise wants to cut ties with the New Jersey Devils for the 2011-2012 NHL season. Sources say that he is not happy about being taken to arbitration and having to play another year for the Devils before he attains his free agency on July 1st 2012.

Parise only played 13 games last season because he underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus. On a side note, I picked Zach Parise and Marian Gaborik as the top 2 players in my hockey pool last regular season where goals are worth 2 times that of assists. Early on, I thought for sure that I had lost the pool, but I ended up getting first place by over 50 points!

Parise is a 40 goal scorer and can reach 90 points when healthy. At age 26, the left winger is in his prime. The Devils are close to the salary cap and are unlikely to sign him for the $7M cap hit, mega multi-year deal he is going to demand. They are exploring options and are going to trade him before he hits free agency in 2012.
