Calgary Flames Trade Rumors

The Calgary Flames continue to make trades this 2011-2012 NHL offseason as general manager Feaster dismantles his core group of players. Robyn Regehr who has a $4 million cap hit and Alex Kotalik who has a $3 million cap hit as well as a 2012 2nd round draft pick were traded to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Chris Butler and Paul Byron. The Flames essentially dumped a bunch of cap space but that is poor asset management by Feaster because he gave away a good physical defenseman in Regehr and a high draft pick for nothing.

The Flames signed Alex Tanguay to a 5 year term. The contract is woth $3.5 million per year. The left winger has good chemistry on the top line with Jarome Iginla, so it is a good signing for the Flames. If the Calgary Flames struggle to make the playoffs next season, look for Jarome Iginla and Alex Tanguay to be moved before the 2012 NHL Trade Deadline for top prospects.
