Trade rumors continue to surround the New York Islanders for the 2011-2012 NHL offseason. The team wants to compliment their current roster full of young stars such as John Tavares and Michael Grabner with an established veteran. They feel that one productive and experienced forward can quicken their slow rebuild, which began in 2008.

The Islanders believe that with the right trade for their 5th overall prospect in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft on June 24th, they can make the playoffs in the upcoming season. Islanders' owner and general manager want to make a trade soon. General manager, Garth Snow when asked about the draft said, "You don’t always know how it’s going to unfold. If there is an opportunity to trade up or down, we’d be open to anything like that." The Montreal Canadiens, Florida Panthers and Washington Capitals are sending trade proposals to the New York Islanders.
